Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to some of our most commonly asked questions regarding our services!

Where will sessions be held?

Sessions occur in our clinic, 1716 16th Avenue NW Calgary, AB, or virtually. We also offer limited in home appointments. During sessions we use items that can be found in your home, as well as our own toys and equipment to make it easy for you to practice what we've learned in therapy in between sessions!

Sessions can also be held in the community. Some clients prefer to take their session on the go and get some practice at the park, in the grocery store, or at a quiet place like the library.

What does a therapy session typically look like?

This is one of our trickier questions to answer because therapy sessions look different for each individual! We try to tailor our therapy appointments to best fit you and your family, and personalize services based on how frequently appointments occur, goals, and resources at home and in your community.

We focus on a naturalistic approach which typically includes play-based, or functional strategies and tasks so that the things we practice in session is relevant!

When should I seek the help of a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) or Occupational Therapist (OT)?

We always tell parents of children who are struggling with speech, language, fine motor, gross motor, or regulation skills that it is important to seek help as soon as possible!

Some reasons why adults may seek services include when they notice deficits in their own speech and language skills, decreased ability to complete daily tasks or participate in activities they enjoy, or after a medical event or accident.

Therapists generally no longer support a "wait and see" approach as a whole. We believe parents know their children best, and adults know when there is something that isn't right, so it never hurts to approach an SLP or OT to do a screening or assessment to make sure that skills are where they should be.

How does scheduling and payment work?

To book an appointment please give us a call or email and we would be happy to help you find a time that works best with our therapists. Please note with scheduling, afternoon appointments fill up extremely quickly. We try to be as accommodating as possible and schedule appointments at a regular interval, but due to the nature of therapy services, sometimes we are unable to schedule you on your preferred time and day. Overall, clinic appointments are more easily accessible as in home appointments require travel considerations.

We are able to take payments at the time of the session or invoice after the session. We take credit, debit, and e-transfer. Receipts can be sent to insurance companies for reimbursement.

We also work with funding sources such as FSCD and insurance.
